"The Shining" is a 1980 psychological horror film directed by Stanley Kubrick and based on Stephen King's novel. The story follows Jack Torrance, a recovering alcoholic and aspiring writer, who takes a job as the winter caretaker of the isolated Overlook Hotel with his wife Wendy and their psychic son Danny. As the family isolates in the hotel, Jack's mental state deteriorates, and Danny experiences increasingly disturbing visions, leading to a descent into madness and violence.
